Daily Inspiration: Blue

I always find myself looking to nature for a little bit of inspiration. Shades of blue will always have a specially place in my closet and cobalt has been a recent favorite of mine.

I've created a mini edit and pictured some blues that I'm lusting over... :)

Obsessed: Balenciaga Arena Classic Clip in Vert

Okay, so I have a little bit of a shopping problem and usually when I come across something that catches my eye, I don't stop thinking about it until I literally have it in my possession. Most recently this was Balenciaga's Arena Classic Clip zip pouch in Vert (They consider this dark green however, I would describe Vert as elephant olive grey). This pouch is the perfect oversized-slouchy clutch, I've dubbed it a man-clutch because you have to say it's a bit masculine. Either way I must own it and take it to brunch. I owe it to brunch. So here are some details.. the zip pouch is 10.5 inches tall and 15 inches wide (I told you it was large!). It's made out of Balenciaga's classic wrinkled lamb skin, minimal hardware, and simple details. I think it's such a great neutral color and definitely trans-seasonal. I feel like you have to enjoy this classic Balenciaga aesthetic before it gets completely changed over by Alexander Wang. You can own the Arena Classic Clip zip pouch for only $525 from Barneys.com, pick one up for me while you're at it, you'll be my new best friend.

Must have for Spring: Opening Ceremony Cotton Croc Sweater

I want Spring to be here so bad, I'm so over the winter weather it's not even funny. However I love sweaters and if there is an opportunity to wear one in the spring then why not, and the two best parts? It's cotton and it has a croc on it! Ha! It's a simple and clever light weight sweater in cobalt blue. Dress down with some camo shorts for a bit of fun or dress up with a button down and slim jeans. The Opening Ceremony Croc Cotton Crewneck is a steal at $150 on thecorner.com (oh and they have FREE standard shipping!)

New Obsession: Dyptique Philosykos - Eau de Toilette

You know when you find a scent and you think, this couldn't be any better! The right notes are hit, and the aromatic details take you on a journey. I found this in Dyptique's Philosykos Eau de Toilette. Growing up in a middle eastern household we always ate figs, my parents have maybe 8 fig trees in our backyard and the smell of the fruit, the smell of the tree's and the leaves themselves leave a distinct image of summer in my memories. (Fresh figs are delicious btw...!) Dyptique capture that smell so perfectly.. Dyptique's website says the following:

"In the heat of a Greek summer, “to get to the sea,” recalls Yves, “you had to walk through a natural orchard of wild fig trees.” Returning from Paris, Desmond brought back a few leaves of these trees in a little box. Years later, the leaves had lost none of their fragrance. Philosykos, which in Greek means “friend of the fig tree,” is an ode to the entire tree: the green, pungent freshness of the leaves, the wood warmed in the sun, the milky flavor of the fruit."

I love everything about this scent, their description is spot on. I will say the smell initially is strong and amazing but because it is an Eau de Toilette it tends to fade rather quickly, you need to apply it throughout the day but it's worth it. They do make a cologne version but it's a bit different, maybe I will try that next after I've gone through this bottle which will be rather quickly. :)

You can purchase Philosykos on Dyptiques website: DyptiqueParis.com

I've been M.I.A.

I'm huntin wabbits...
Happy Easter from Soho, NYC

Sorry I've been M.I.A. (missing in action for those of you with an acronym deficiency) but life happens and you find yourself absorbed in things... Work mostly, but trying to make some nice changes here and there - lets see... so yes, work has been my number one priority lately, I work in the retail/fashion industry and so busy times are always unpredictable. I made an effort to organize my closet.. this was a nice accomplishment. I went on a diet - no carbs or sugar and I've lost 25 lbs to date so YES! That felt good. I took a trip to Lebanon which was absolutely amazing.. I'll have to write a blog about that too.. mental note. Anyway I could keep going on and on but this blog is about fashion, music, the world - not me :) Anyhoo - Happy Easter everyone!

Daily Inspiration: Why I Heart Lynn Yaeger

I've lived in the Downtown-Soho area of New York City for a few years now, and I constantly find myself running into the most intriguing lady, I thought - "Who is this women with outstanding, unique, and sometimes victorian style?" Well with the help of the internet I later learned it was Lynn Yaeger who is a contributing fashion editor for Vogue and a handful of other publications. Lynn follows no rules in her fashion choices and can often be found photographed in street style blogs around the world. I really respect her mindset and opinion on fashion, and of course her amazing ability to pull of anything! I was able to see Lynn once again in the Meatpacking District during fashion week a few days ago, about the time I saw Bill Cunningham as well, which is why I thought this was a good time to post a little bit of information on one of the most amusing and sweet ladies you can find in downtown Manhattan.

Her wikipedia yields the following "Lynn Yaeger is a contributing fashion editor to Vogue.com and a contributing writer to Vogue. She is a former fashion reporter for The Village Voice, having worked for the paper for 30 years. Her column, "Elements of Style", was renamed "Frock Star" in February 2007. Yaeger is also a regular contributor to The New York Times, Style Magazine, American Vogue, Travel & Leisure, and countless antiques & collectibles dealers. Lynn is also a fashion columnist for Full Frontal Fashion, a style website in association with Sundance Channel. She is known for her eccentric personal style, powdered face and dark, cupid's-bow lipstick."

I've rounded some interesting articles below:

- Lynn Yaeger opens her hope to Huffington Post here
Lynn seems really cool and down to earth as she shows off her countless collectibles and overflowing closet.
- Named one of the 50 most influential people in New York fashion.

Birchbox Sample Stop Mania

SO, I meant to blog about this earlier but am just now getting to it! Last week I happened to stumble upon a Birchbox Sample Stop in Meatpacking District at 459 W 15th Street between 9th and 10th Avenue. A friend of mine popped in and told me it was something I had to see - A free for all sample stop promoting a really great idea - Birchbox. Birchbox is a subscription service in which you pay a membership fee ($10-$20 per month) and a box full of samples and goodies come right to your door. I believe you fill out a questionnaire upon signing up and this how they assess what goodies to send you. You get to sample new products every month! This gives you, the consumer, the opportunity to try multiple products at once before buying the actual product. How many times have you bought a new product and hated it? Well with Birchbox those days seem to be long gone. Birchbox was orginally geared towards women but recently have expanded to a men's membership as well. Learn more at www.birchbox.com.

The room was packed with freebies! There were free manicures, eye brow waxing, men's facials and I believe hot shaves, coconut water, candies, and samples galore.

I got a goodie tote, a Men's Birchbox AND a Women's Birchbox!

PopChips, Field Notes x3pack, 2 pens, Towel Dry Shampoo,
Zirh Face Wash, and Supersmile Teeth Whitening.

Sharing these with my friends! Kiehl's Creme de Corps, Mary-Lou Manizer eye shadow,
Per-fekt Skin Gel, Wet-to-Go Cleanser, Caudalie Eye & Lip Cream, Kerastase Hair Oil,
Oscar Blandi Conditioner and Dry Shampoo, Shu Uemura Shampoo, Amika: Hair Mask

What a great gift idea for that special someone! Recently Birchbox has acquired Joliebox which serves clients across the UK and Europe... they must be doing something right!

Keep Sample Sales Offline and in NYC, Where They Belong - Love, Frank I couldn't agree more, I don't know where I would be without Barney's Warehouse Sale. It's like that episode of Will & Grace... Eat, Poop, Breathe... SHOP. Amen.

Is Mandy Moore Fashion Week's Surprise Style Star? First I should ask - Where has Mandy Moore been? Is she acting? Singing? Is her re-emergence a sign that there is something to come or something we should expect? Maybe she will enter the fashion sector and be a cross over star. Who knows but she looks cute so I thought I would share. I like her in Picture #4.

The Carrie Diaries It's happening, the pre-series to Sex & the City is just around the corner, I've seen the trailer, and now you can too - HERE - Seems cute, the pre-story all about Carrie Bradshaw's teenage years in the 80s. I have to say, the casting couldn't have been better - AnnaSophia Robb as CB is perfect. Even the voice over.. it's Carrie all the way, obviously we see a hint of narcissism and a small dash of CB's self centered attitude but presented in an innocent untainted way, I'm sure I'll be watching.

Marc Jacobs Breaks the Cardinal Socks-And-Flip-Flops Rule UM. No thanks.

www.onni.eu I don't know what this is, crazy euro 'fashion' I guess, but I kinda semi love it. Now if only I could translate the website into english. Okay so I read a few street style fashion blogs based out of Helsinki, Finland and a group of people supposedly wear garments from this Onni company, I must say it's pretty unique and cool.

Enjoy!
